As early as time was recorded, humans had started their craziest and most absurd imaginations about the movement of flying. So, have they conducted the most meticulous thoughts and experiments? Now, flying remains a fascinating topic. Not only does it get away from the ground perspective, but it also means reexperiencing height, breadth, and velocity. Jiayu Liu's new work Wings of Life generated virtual natural scenery through machine learning, giving the audience the bird's perspective and extending their fantasies of flying. With this extension, humans gain a new perspective of observing everything grow and nature change.

 

    Once the audience enters the space, sensors will immediately locate their arms and wave. In this way, the audience can portray the scenes of the sky in the image. Their arms push aside the cloud mist as if two wings of a bird, causing great waves in the sea of clouds. In this two-layered space, the audience will perceive from a different perspective from birds and men, while another unknown dimension remains partly visible and partly invisible.

    Thus, the perspective shifts between the bird and the person, bringing more profound thoughts to the observer. Eventually, the virtual "reality" breaks actively, as if the fourth wall is destroyed, waking up the audience's awareness.

    This avant-garde expression mingles with surrealism, enabling the audience to enter an unknown territory and stroll amid flowing time. Human actions are considerably restricted in our era, and humans have become increasingly estranged from nature. This work artfully combines technology, space, and field domains, enriching people's perception of the natural dimension and awakening the audience to rethink the multiple-layered relations between humans and nature.
