“Wind is Rising” is a series of works commissioned by the artist Liu Jiayu for Lotus and Madame Figaro China.

The series is inspired by the infinite love and creativity of Lotus founder Colin Chapman for “wind”. It aims to explore the diversity of wind and its impact on the natural world. The work delves into the different expressions of wind across various geographies and climates. As the wind’s form changes with shifting latitudes from the UK to China, each chapter explores wind’s multi-dimensional characteristics through different geological features.

As a symbolic representation of the Lotus brand, “wind” has been a continuous source of creative inspiration for Colin Chapman. It still runs through every innovation and breakthrough of the brand. The launch of the new Lotus Emeya, a pure electric hypercar, became the inspiration for Liu Jiayu’s creation. In the work “Wind is Rising”, Liu uses a dynamic wind particle system to present the fluid and elusive movement of the wind. As viewers navigate the space, they experience the subtle connection between wind and nature. The wind’s power awakens all living things while also evoking an emotional resonance.

Through the interplay of light and shadow and the shifting perspectives of wind, the artwork takes the audience on a journey back through Lotus’ legendary history. The creativity and vitality of the wind, much like the brand’s spirit, infuse new life and energy into the brand’s legacy. Liu Jiayu uses a unique artistic language to reimagine the invisible power of wind and its profound interaction with nature.

In the early stages of the creation process, AI technology was crucial in providing direction for the artist’s inspiration. Through repeated dialogues and feedback with AI, Liu integrated field models into the system and used AIGC to generate new visual elements. This pushed the innovation of the work’s dimensions and expression. This process profoundly presents the form of wind within the context of global natural landscapes. It illustrates how wind carves through mountains and rivers, unfurling like a painting and providing the audience with a visually stunning artistic experience.

“Wind is Rising” is not only an artistic reimagining of the natural world but also a profound reflection on the relationship between humanity and nature and the intersection of technology and art.
