Golden Theatre 流光鎏影
In our research, we observed that although the morphology of snakes tends to fall into several fixed types, Bulgari’s artisans—through creativity and design—imbue each geometric form with unique variation. Every piece carries its own creative concept and distinctive transformation. On the limited three-dimensional "canvas" of the serpent's skin, they create with bold imagination, cutting-edge techniques, and diverse materials and craftsmanship—from which we, too, draw inspiration.
Just as a snake's body continues to grow until its death, it must shed its old skin every one to two months to release new vitality.
In this creation, the sculpted serpent is fixed stationary on the wall, while projection mapping animates its textured surface with digitally algorithm-generated motion graphics—juxtaposing the snake's molting process with dynamic visual transformation. This conveys to the audience a surreal, shimmering, winding presence that continuously glides across the wall. In this context, the serpent’s body acts as a fixed totem and symbol, yet through the ever-shifting graphics generated and rendered by different algorithms, it too undergoes a form of layered shedding. Within these transformations, viewers are invited to engage their imagination through the serpent sculpture on the wall—interpreting how the symbol appears to move, metamorphose, and transform. The two snakes seem to flow forward in an endless, winding progression, symbolizing positive and proactive growth.
The continuously flowing and shifting play of light and shadow further mirrors the passage of time and the serpent’s process of renewal—reflecting the exploratory spirit embodied by the totem, one that continually seeks change and transformation.
